Estuarine is a 3D game made by eight people, envisioning Denmark 50 years into the future. The story follows a young boy trying to escape a massive flood that engulfs the city. The game explores themes of climate change and adaptation, and the evolving relationship between humans and their environment

Sound design - I created and recorded the soundtrack and sound effects for the game
Narrative design - I helped create our narrative and storytelling
3D assets - I helped create the world by making 3D assets
Game design - I helped create our puzzles and later test them on players
Some of the 3D assets I made

Playthrough
I worked on Level and Narration Design
I made the music and sound design for the game. I also made the soundtrack for level 2 and 3 which we unfortunately didn't finish, but you can listen to it here. I wanted to make a progressively darker soundscape following the simultaneous change of colors and locations
Level 1 - city
Level 2 - beach
Level 3 - forest
I also created the audio for the radios by recording our friend Frederik and mixing in radio noise
A big theme in our narrative was evolution so I used our narrative timeline as inspiration for the soundtrack. I wanted to create a warm and cozy beginning and a dark horrible ending!
Proces

I learned about art direction and color theory and used it to create narrative and music
I helped create a detailed world with history and culture in respons to massive flooding
We playtested our game by eye- tracking and sweat-monitoring players. This helped us to understand player experience
I spent a lot of time finding and designing sound assets for the game. I learned how to implement sound into Unity
